About the Calculators
How accurate are the calculators?
Our calculators use documented formulas based on official sources (IRS publications, platform fee schedules, standard financial formulas). They produce estimates that are accurate for the inputs you provide, but they cannot account for every edge case, negotiated rate, or jurisdiction-specific rule. Always verify important decisions with a qualified professional.
Where do the formulas come from?
Published tax calculators cite the specific IRS publications, forms, Revenue Procedures, Notices, or SSA announcements that support the rates used on that page. Published marketplace fee calculators use rates from the platforms' official pricing pages (Etsy and Amazon). Financial formulas follow standard methods used in CFA curriculum and accounting textbooks. Read our full Methodology for details.
How often are calculators updated?
Tax calculators are updated annually when the IRS publishes new inflation-adjusted parameters (typically October-November for the following tax year). Fee calculators are reviewed when platforms announce pricing changes. Our published calculators display a "last reviewed" date.
Can I change the assumptions?
Yes. Inputs are adjustable across our calculators. Default values are set to represent common scenarios, but you can change any number to match your situation. Results update instantly as you type.
What if I find an error?
Please report it through our Contact page. We investigate all error reports within 48 hours and correct confirmed issues as quickly as possible. Accuracy matters to us.
Tax Calculators
Is this tax advice?
No. YieldCalcHub provides estimates for educational and informational purposes only. Our calculators and guides are not tax advice, financial advice, or legal advice. For decisions that affect your taxes or finances, consult a qualified tax professional or CPA.
Which tax year do the calculators use?
All tax calculators display the current tax year prominently (currently Tax Year 2026). The specific IRS source document is cited on each calculator page. If a calculator uses data from a prior year, a warning is displayed.
Do the tax calculators include state taxes?
No. Our federal tax calculators estimate federal tax only. State income tax varies by state and is not included. Some states have no income tax at all.
What about self-employment tax?
Self-employment tax (15.3% for Social Security + Medicare) is separate from income tax. We have a dedicated Self-Employment Tax Calculator and a detailed SE Tax Guide that explains how it works.
